This support bulletin is designed to assist with updating the firmware on the TOSHIBA Symbio Media Box and Blu-ray Disk Player as well as updating the firmware on the available ePortal.

Update Player Firmware

To update the firmware on the TOSHIBA Symbio Media Box and Blu-ray Disk Player, perform the following:

  1. Turn the player and the connected display device ON. Ensure the display device is set to the correct input to display the player.
  2. Press the "Setting" button on the remote control for the player.
  3. Use the up/down arrow buttons to highlight the "Setting" icon on the left side of the menu.
  4. Press the right arrow button to navigate to the right menu icons.
  5. Use the up/down arrow buttons to highlight the "System" icon.
  6. Press the right arrow button to enter the "System" menu.
  7. Highlight the "Upgrade" menu item and press the "OK" button.
  8. Select from the items listed.
    • If you are updating the firmware using a CD or DVD disc, insert the disc containing the firmware into the player and select "Disc".
    • If you are updating the firmware using a USB flash or thumb drive, plug the device containing the firmware into USB port on the player and select "USB".
    • If you are connected to the internet either wired or wirelessly (most common way to perform firmware update), select "Network". If no firmware updates are available, the player will display "No Update Found".
  9. Follow the on-screen instructions to perform the firmware upgrade.

Update ePortal Firmware

The TOSHIBA Symbio Media Box and Blu-ray Disk Player ePortal firmware is checked when the ePortal is opened. If an update is available, the system will perform the update automatically.
