Issue

The Desktop External Hard Drive powers off and is no longer recognized by the computer until the computer is restarted.

Resolution


Download the Toshiba Sleep Removal Tool v1.01 to remove the auto-sleep function of the Desktop External Hard Drive.

Doing so will allow the Desktop External Hard Drive to be controlled by the computer's power management settings.

Procedure
  1. Download the Toshiba sleep removal tool at http://download.toshiba.com/toshiba_sleep_removal_tool_v1.01.exe
  2. Connect the Desktop External Hard Drive to the computer and power it on
  3. Double-click on the Toshiba sleep removal tool and follow the on-screen instructions
