  • Yes. Your options for HD playback and record are: FHD which is Full HD at either 1080i or 1080p and HD which is 720p
What's the difference between High and Regular definition?
  • A standard definition camcorder will give you attractive close-ups, faces for example but landscapes will look fuzzy and lacking in detail.
  • A high-definition (HD) camcorder will give you beautiful landscapes and attractive close-ups. Basically, the more panoramic your shot, the more high definition matters. Sports in high definition really show up well because you can read the names and numbers on the uniforms more clearly but an intimate drama with lots of close-ups might not look too much better in HD.
How do I playback High Definition video on my TV?
  • High Definition playback requires an HD capable monitor or TV with component video inputs or and HDMI input. If you are not sure if your TV has these features check the owners manual to confrim that it supports HD playback (and has either component video inputs or an HDMI input.)

  • Disconnect and then reconnect the HDMI or USB cable. Your device will try and redetect the camcorder. If this fails you can try changing to another HDMI/USB cable
  • For US customers make sure the NTSC/PAL mode is set to NTSC
  • For PC's ensure the USB auto detection mode is set to "On"
My computer does't recognize my camcorder when I connect to it using a USB cable. What should I do?
  • Make sure the camcorder is turned on
  • Disconnect and reconnect the USB cable on both sides (camcorder and PC)
  • If this does not work, try:
    • Another USB port on the computer
    • Another USB cable
When connecting my camcorder to the computer, Autoplay windows appear. What are they for?
  • DV indicates the internal memory of the camcorder.
  • Removable Disk indicates the external memory (memory card installed in the camcorder).
  • DVAP shows the built-in CAMILEO UPLOADER application is saved at this disk. DO NOT format this disk or delete the application inside; otherwise, the CAMILEO UPLOADER application can not function.
How does "white balance" help me get a better video?
  • All light has color temperature. Some light is cool and blue other light is warm and red or yellow. Our brains do a great job of "balancing" these different temperatures to minimize the impact to us visually. Unfortunately this does not occur in cameras (or camcorders in this case.) The camcorder records exactly what is sees. To compensate for the difference in light "quality" many cameras have a "white balance" feature that allows the camcorder to filter the light making the final picture appear normal.
    • Note: The Auto option allows you to let the camcorder attempt to balance the light on it's own. If you are unsure as to the type and quality of the light source available try using the "Auto" setting.
The color of the image or video does not look natural, why?
  • Select the proper White Balance to match the lighting csource.
I can't record video or take pictures, why?
  • Make sure the SD card isnt full. If so, delete some files or download to a storage device or computer and format SD card.
I can't record or playback video, why?
  • Make sure there is an SD card in the camcorder
  • Try ejecting and then gently reinserting the SD card
  • Try a new SD card
Why won't my camcorder focus?
  • The lens may be dirty
    • Use a lens cleaning cloth or lens cleaning kit to clean the lens
    • If the camcorder is in Macro mode, change it to normal mode
Why does my camcorder stop recording after an hour or so of continuous recording?
  • The camcorder uses a FAT32 files system. This file system has a maximum file size of 4GB. The video quality level selected along with the resolution capability of the camcorder will determine how long it will take for the file being created to reach the 4GB file limit. Just before the 4GB limit is reached he camcorder will stop recording and close the file. Here is a table that describes the length of time it will take to reach the 4GB limit depending on the settings selected:

The files on he memory card do not diplay smoothly when the LCD shows the "!" marking. Why is that?
  • The "!" means the SC card is low speed or has incompatible content. To solve this problem format the SD card using the camcorder instead of the PC (refer to the formatting instructions in section 5 of the Owner's manual.
  • WARNING: All data will be lost when the card is formatted!
Why is the camcorder flash not active when I am taking pictures?
  • In Flash Auto mode the camcorder only fires the flash when necessary, e.g. in the dark.
