Using the BD-Live feature

BD-Live is a feature of certain Blu-Ray discs and BD-Live enabled players. BD-Live enabled players allow access to extra content and interactive functions when connected to the Internet.
Toshiba BD-Live enabled players offer the ability to allow different levels of BD-Live access, depending on customer preference:
•   Limit Access - Requires User approval to access
•   Always Allow Access - No approval necessary
•   Prohibit Access - Never allows access
In order to make use of the BD-Live features additional memory must be added to the BD Players.
•   Either a USB device or an SD memory card connected to the available slots on the Players.
•   Storage capacity should be at least 1GB and should have at least 100MB free space when accessing BD-Live features.

Problems using the BD-Live features may be resolved by:

• Verify BD-Live functionality is a feature of the BD disc being viewed.
• Verify the SD card/USB device used for BD-Live memory has at least 100MB free space.
• Verify the SD card/USB device used for BD-Live memory is connected properly.
• Verify network and Internet connections are functioning.
• Verify BD-Live Internet access is not set to “Prohibit Access”.

Erasing BD-Live memory

Since there must be at least 100MB of available storage space on the additional BD-Live memory device (SD Card or USB device), there may be times when stored memory must be removed to accommodate new information. The following procedure explains how to erase BD-Live memory when it becomes necessary.
1.   From the BD player main menu select Settings.
2.   Press the Right arrow button to select BD-Live.
3.   Press the Right arrow button again to enter the BD-Live adjustment menu.
4.   Using the Down arrow, select Erase Blu-Ray Storage.
5.   Press OK.

Using Network Connected Applications (Widgets) on my TV or Blu-ray player

Many of the available TOSHIBA consumer electronic products have home network capabilities (wired and/or wireless). These products also feature Internet applications known as "Widgets". While many of these widgets are open to general use, some require that a customer account be established. Generally, Widget services that stream audio or video content such as pay-per-view movies or Internet radio require a customer account.  Customer accounts are usually created from an Internet connected PC and then activated on the network connected device through the Widget application.
NOTE: Not all TV’s and Blu-Ray players have network capabilities. Refer to your Owner’s Manual for your specific model for complete details and information about network capabilities and widget use.
Currently the following widgets used with some Toshiba products require account activation:
 •   Netflix™
 •   Pandora™
 •   Vudu™
 •   Facebook™
 •   Skype™
 •   Twitter™
NOTE: Not all Toshiba products have these features.
Deactivation of these accounts is required if, for some reason, they are no longer to be used on the individual pieces of equipment. Deactivation does not cancel the account, but merely breaks the association with the piece of equipment.
Accessing
 1.   Go to the home menu (as shown above).
 2.   Use the arrow keys and ENTER button to select the desired application.
 3.   Follow any on-screen instructions to properly setup the application for use.

If you have used the Blockbuster streaming movie service with your Toshiba TV or Blu-ray player, Blockbuster will notify you via e-mail about the cancelation of the service. Customers using other devices, like computers or tablet PC, will still be able to get the Blockbuster App for streaming movies.

3D BLU-RAY PLAYERS

Proper Setup and Guidelines for 3D TV's and media players

For optimal experience when viewing 3D media, or viewing 2D media in 3D (if equipped), click here.

Picture is not in 3D while wearing 3D glasses with a 3D TV

I'm wearing the right 3D glasses, but I'm still not seeing a 3D picture. What's wrong?
Make sure the glasses are turned on — there should be a power button somewhere on the frames. If they won't turn on, then the battery may need to be recharged or replaced.
If the glasses are powered on and you're still not seeing a 3D picture, double-check that your 3D TV and 3D video source are both in 3D mode.

TV Picture is split into 2 when watching 3D on my 3D TV

When I try to watch movies in 3D the screen is split in two.
If your TV is set to display video in 3D only and you are watching content that is 2D source material from Cable, Satellite, Blu-ray or a DVD Player you will see a split screen picture. Go into your TV's display menu and select "Auto" (or something similar) — that tells the TV to display any incoming signals as the format the material is in. The source material must be in 3D format to work properly using the Television 3D capability.

Picture goes black while watching movies on a 3D TV

When I try to watch a regular 2D movie, my 3D TV's screen gets distorted or goes blank. What's wrong?
If your TV is set to display video in 3D only, it may not be able to accept a regular 2D signal. Go into your TV's display menus and select "Auto" (or something similar) — that tells the TV to display any incoming signals, 2D or 3D, rather than only 3D.

Playing a 3D Blu-ray movie on a regular Blu-ray player

Can I play a 3D Blu-ray movie on a regular Blu-ray player?
You will only be able to play it back in 2D mode. 3D mode is only available when using a Blu-ray player that supports 3D content.

When trying to play 3D movie on my 3D TV I get a blank screen

The problem is likely that one of the components in your system doesn't support 3D video. For example, if you try to play a 3D Blu-ray movie on a TV that can't display 3D, the TV won't know what to do with the signal and the screen will be blank. The same thing can happen if you're routing your 3D Blu-ray player's video signal through a non-3D home theater receiver. The receiver won't be able to pass 3D video on to your TV, resulting in an empty screen.
Many 3D Blu-ray players require you to choose between 3D and 2D viewing when you load a Blu-ray disc. If you choose 3D, the player switches to 3D mode, and you have a short amount of time to confirm your selection. If you don't confirm, the player assumes you might not be able to see the image, and reverts back to 2D.

I have a 3D disc but my picture is still fuzzy with the glasses whether they are on or off

When using a 3D Blu-ray player and a 3D TV you must also make sure that the disc is a 3D Blu-ray title. Most 3D titles made for a 3D TV carry the Blu-ray 3D identification on either the front or back of the packaging.
There are some DVD and Blu-ray discs that are 3D and made for any type TV or Blu-ray player but come with their own special glasses in the DVD box. (These glasses are usually Red and Blue colored). This type of movie will only work with the special colored glasses.

Connecting a 3D content source device (Blu-ray player, etc...) to a 3D TV

To properly view 3D content, you must connect your 3D content source device (player) to your 3D TV using a high-speed HDMI cable (HDMI 1.4).

Using the BDX3000, BDX4200, BDX5200 3D Blu-Ray players to play 2D movies

The  BDX3000, BDX4200, and BDX5200 3D Blu-Ray players does not convert 2D content to 3D. Movies produced in 3D can be viewed in either 2D or 3D modes. However 2D movies can be played back and enjoyed in 2D playback mode using the BDX3000, BDX4200, and BDX5200.

Viewing angle for watching 3D TV

3D content is typically filmed straight on, so the best position to be in when watching the content is at the horizontal and vertical center of the screen. Since that isn't always possible, a good rule of thumb would be to stay within 30 degrees of center horizontally,

HorizontalViewingAngles.jpg

15 degrees vertically...

VerticalViewingAngles.jpg

And with a total field of view of no more than 60 degrees right and left (120 degrees total for both eyes).

Unable to manually FINALIZE DVD recordings on Model DVR-620(KU) and DVR670(KU)

The fan will turn on by itself randomly when the unit is in the standby or Off mode. Sometimes this occurs during the middle of the night.
This is a normal occurrence. When the fan turns on by itself and the unit is in the standby mode it can be caused by any of the situations listed below:
•   Unit has a timer recording setup.
•   Unit is powered ON.
•   Auto Clock Setting is set to "Auto" or "Manual"
To turn Auto Clock Off follow the procedure below:

AutoClock

To tune and program Clear Channel Digital Cable QAM channels the unit needs to be set to “CABLE EXTENDED” mode when programmed. (see page 26 in owners manual below).
