Issue
Using the Addonics PCMCIA CD-ROM with the Recovery CD for the 3XXX series
Procedure
  1. Make a copy of the recovery boot diskette and put the original away in a safe place.
  2. Boot the laptop holding F8 to get the startup menu.
  3. Choose COMMAND PROMPT ONLY.
  4. Insert the copy of the recovery boot diskette.
  5. At the prompt type "A:" and then ENTER.
  6. At the "A" prompt type CD MICRO and then ENTER.
  7. At the new prompt type EDIT CONFIG.SYS
  8. Place an REM (space) in front of DEVICEHIGH=a:\micro\arccdens.sys
  9. Place the cursor at the end of this same line and press the ENTER key (this will create a new line)
  10. On the new line, type device=a:\micro\pcmi80cl.sys /port=300 /mem=CE00
  11. Press the ENTER key, (this will start another line)
  12. Type device=a:\micro\statpcdm.sys /d:arccd01
  13. Hit ALT+F, then hit the letter "X"
  14. When prompted to save hit the letter "Y"
  15. Remove the recovery floppy from the "A" drive.
  16. Insert the CD-ROM manufacture installation diskette
  17. (NOTE: Contact Addonics Technical Support for this step if needed)
    Copy pcmi80cl.sys and statpcdm.sys to the root of the "C" drive .
  18. Remove the CD-ROM driver diskette, and re-insert the recovery boot diskette.
  19. Type "A:" then press the ENTER key.
  20. Type copy c:\pcmi80cl.sys a:\micro then press the ENTER key.
  21. Type copy c:\statpcdm.sys a:\micro then press the ENTER key.
  22. Reboot the laptop with the recovery boot diskette in the drive.
  23. When prompted to make a CD-ROM choice. choose option 3.
  24. Recovery will now run, At the welcome screen follow the instructions.

The EDIT command can be found on the companion diskette if not already present on the system.
