Toshiba uses a worldwide accepted benchmark program to determine battery life for each notebook model. Battery life tests are based on benchmark productivity suite tests which run on normal battery saving profile. Depending on how your notebook is used your battery life may vary. For example, if you are using the optical drive to play a DVD movie at full screen brightness and speakers set to maximum volume, your battery life will be dramatically lower then when you are using a word processor document at half the screen brightness.

To run the Microsoft Power Efficiency Diagnostics Report Tool to view battery capacity:

Windows 8 and above:

  1. Press and Hold the Windows Key then press the X key
  2. Select Command Prompt (Admin)
  3. At the command prompt, type powercfg –BatteryReport /output c:/battery-report.html
  4. The evaluation will complete in 60 seconds.
  5. When the battery report has finished, an HTML report file that is named "Battery-Report.html" will be generated on the c: drive in the root directory
  6. Type file:///C:/battery-report.html to open the report in a browser.
  7. Locate the following Battery Information:
    1. Design Capacity (ex. 66,600 mWh)
    2. Full Charge Capacity (ex. 61,815 mWh)
  8. To find out how much life is left within the Battery, use the following equation:
    1. Full Charge Capacity Divided by Design Capacity = Percentage Battery Full Charge Capacity
    2. Ex. (61812/66600 = 92.81%)

Windows 7.x:

Start an elevated command prompt in Windows 7.x.

  1. To do this, click Start, type command prompt in the Start Search box, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator.

    2. 61812/66600 = 92.81%
